Tons of space, extremely comfortable, and very practical on the trail. My only problem is that it doesn't seem to have the integrated rain cover. It doesn't say anything about an integrated rain cover on the Amazon listing, but every other listing online for the same model number and model year state that it has an integrated cover that folds out of a zip pouch on the bottom of the pack.Everything else about this pack is phenomenal and I strongly recommend it to all day-hikers. UPDATE: After contacting Camelbak about the missing rain cover, I was informed that the Alpine Explorer spec differs from the US vs International. The US-spec product does not have the rain cover; the international-spec product has the rain cover. I was hoping for an integrated rain cover, but the lack of one isn't a deal-breaker for me. The zips look tight and it appear that it will suit my long thorax. My issue is with Amazon's advertising. The colour looks earthtone on the picture. I was pretty annoyed when my pack turned up Canary yellow. It by no means looks like sulphur or the image. Still colour isn't the main reason to get the pack. I bought it on a whim and I love it. Brought it on an 8 mile hike its first time out and it was awesome. It held all my stuff with room for more if I needed it. The hydration bladder is really nice as well with cut off switch at the mouthpiece to prevent leaking when refilling and a quick disconnect at the base of the hose for easy cleaning. Also worth noting is the quarter turn cap. It makes it super quick and easy to open and fill and still has a really nice seal and doesn't leak. The Camelbak lifetime guarantee is pretty nice too. The only negative thing I have to say about this pack is not so much a downside as a slight annoyance and that's the fact that there is no loop at the top of the shoulder strap for the hydration hose to go through to keep it off of your neck. Other than that one slight nuisance this is an awesome pack for day hikes and well worth the money. |
