After close to a month of everyday use, the cheap AA alkaline battery i tossed in is still running strong. I ordered the Fenix LD15 through Amazon before i ever saw one in person and was amazed when i saw how small this light really is. The LD15 is about 1/4in. longer than a tube of chap-stick and very close to the same diameter and only weighs 0.72oz(without battery). The fit and finish of the LD15 is very nice. The screw top feels great, it's tight enough there are no worries of accidentally turning the light on, but loose enough it can easily be operated one handed. I carry this little light everyday all day in my pocket with my keys and a bic lighter for just under a month and the finish still shows no signs of... Compared to my stainless cool light Fenix LD01 80 lm: 1. At last the highest mode is the first one! 2. Weight is 2 g more with NiMH batteries. Please note that I am comparing to a stainless version of LD01. 3. Both spill and hotspot are wider. Intensity is probably slightly higher. Imperfections of the hotspot are insignificant. Tint is slightly cooler. No flickering of PWM can be seen anymore. 4. Fancy switch mechanism hopefully will not suffer from bad contact like it was with L0D (but not with LD01 because mine was stainless). 5. Dust protection is weaker in my opinion. It depends on the length of battery. 6. Heat dissipation is adequate - there is a moderate risk of overheating in the highest mode. 7. Still compact enough to carry... I know Fenix makes brighter models but this one is just a little bit bigger then the size of a AA battery. And one of the reason I chose this was because it only took one AA battery. So far I've had the same AA battery in here for 2 months and use it quite frequently. It still shinning bright. This goes into my pocket everyday. They'll also make great gifts!Update 3.23.12 I've had this light for over a year now and it is still my go to EDC pocket light and still shining as bright as the day I purchased her. I also own a Streamlight Microstream another single AA light and I like them both but usually opt to carry the Fenix LD15. Why? I really like the twist cap and the fact that you can stand the Fenix upright. The Microstream is a back push button activation so standing it isn't as easy on its own.
